IT IS NOT DEAD, JUST STUNNED..., 2012, Art Institute of Boston, Lesley University, Boston, MA
A series of 69 colorful geometric paintings are randomly placed in a heap on the floor, in relationship to a painted parking wheel stop. The color and geometry are inspired by modernist painting, national flags, fashion, candy mixes, and traffic signs. The installation addresses the continuous flow of cross pollination that takes places between the arts and commercial, political, and spiritual applications. The parking stop delineates a virtual parking space that invisibly frames the heap. A parking space is both a site of arrival and departure, likewise it is implied that painting is not dead, but it is waiting its next destiny.
