MAD HOT FOX AND WET ICY EEL HUG YOU ALL DAY, 2013, Grove Hall Branch, Boston Public Library, Boston, MA

A series of eleven colorful geometric paintings are displayed as an architectural frieze that surrounds the library reading room located at Boston Public Library, Grove Hall Branch. Inspired by ancient alphabets and the recent development of High Capacity Color Barcode, Liselott Johnsson created her own alphabet of signs resulting in paintings that actually have semantic meaning. Different from the traditional alphabet, these symbols employ color and simple geometry. The paintings displayed exhibit pictorial signs that form words. The result of this is an eleven-word poem.
