Collaboration with Moving Art Gallery, Nice, France

Fabulous news begs to be shared. Hence, I’m thrilled to announce my collaboration with MOVING ART GALLERY in Nice, a professional contemporary art gallery with exhibitions in the South of France and Paris. Moving Art exclusively represents my work in France. Many thanks to curator and gallery owner Véronique de Lavenne, formerly with Marlborough Gallery, Monaco, and the Maeght Gallery & Foundation, Paris, for including me in her select group of artists. Moving-Art Gallery is bringing contemporary art in the Alpes-Maritimes and on the Riviera to new heights, and I’m humbled to be part of the journey. More to come!

Group exhibition “Storytelling and the Narrative in Images” at Harris House, Atlantic Center for the Arts, New Smyrna Beach, Florida, February 2-25, 2019

Happy to announce that my work Aquarelle Lost in Digital Darkness, was displayed in the exhibition Storytelling and the Narrative in Images; a show beautifully curated by Bethany Bennett and held at Harris House, Atlantic Center for the Arts, New Smyrna Beach, Florida February 2-25, 2019.

Creating this sequence of images in response to the call-for-entry, was a joy. Here, the story which accompanies the work:

"In this glow-in-dark pixelated thriller, a misplaced aquarelle painting is accidentally scanned and wakes up in a dark digital universe, where she is mirrored, copied and manipulated. Will she be able to find the light and radiate in her new world or will she be lost forever?"

Digital print on cotton rag paper, 7 1/2” x 10 5/8” each, 9 prints total

This exhibition, La Mer et les rêves/ Havet och Drömmarna/ The Sea and the Dreams, is an exhibition inspired by the visual poetry of the Mediterranean Sea. At the first glimpse, the infinite space of the sea connects with the infinite space within, creating a moment of inspiration, awe, and stunned silence. Despite who we are, where we come from, and the life situations we experience, the view of the sea remains a source of inspiration and daydream. When the open sea appears in front of us, we are attracted; it effectively mirrors the immense open space within and we feel as if we know the sea and that it knows us.

The materials used for the works are very light and strong spinnaker sailcloth, string, and grommets, as well as wood.  Historically and culturally, these materials have a utilitarian relationship to the sea. The impervious sailcloth is painted by immersion (stained) resulting in abstract atmospheric dreamscapes that are stretched, shaped, folded and held in place by gravity. The resulting works feature abstract and vaguely figurative dreamscapes of the sea and its underworld.
